Defining Astral Travel and Projection

Have you ever awakened yourself out of a dream with a jerk? Believe it or not you were on the edge of sleep and beginning to astral travel, or astral project. Some think it takes a special process or certain ritual to make astral travel happen, but that is just not true. The astral plane is the area between the physical state and the spiritual world. There are many layers to the spirit world and you cannot get to this plane unless you are in a dream state, but you can learn to acquire the art of astral projection using deep meditation. Astral travel is a natural part of our existence and part of your psychosomatic character. Astral travel occurs when your astral body leaves the physical body.

How Can You Astral Travel?
When you dream you’re traveling in the astral plane; you are usually unconscious to this process as you are moved about the currents of the planes automatically. When you are in this state you are being guided by your spirit guides or higher self. Don’t fear, you will return every night. You have a silver cord attached to both of the bodies that ensure you will return safely together once the physical body awakens. The cord is limitless and not just anyone can cut it.

While we dream it is said that we can meet three different kinds of entities.

While traveling in our dreams. They are sleepers, astral travelers and the dead or disincarnated. Sleepers are others just like us out walking the ethers and creating an illusion by using their own minds and experiences. Most of them don’t have any control over their dreams. When someone says “you were in my dreams last night”, you can be assured you and that person were on the same plane.

Astral travelers are the entities you meet on a spiritual level while astral traveling. They are usually traveling on a conscious level and are looking to complete transcendent development or spiritual lessons. When you meet another astral traveler it is for validating experiences that will stick with you in the waking hours or it may be to help you put some pieces together of a puzzle or issue you may have been dealing with. For example, a deep experience I had while astral traveling occurred when I was very sick with Lupus. Two times I traveled to a witch doctor located somewhere in the ethers and both times he did healing work on me with tuning forks and reiki. When I awoke I was better and knew of two new ways to work with my physical body to help it heal.

The last type is the dead or disincarnated traveler. These are what we consider ghosts. The body has passed on and the
soul is left to wander the ethers until it is collected or finally fades. Sometimes these travelers can be angry or confused as to what has happened to them. Their emotions are still intact and as we walk through them, we can pick up the emotional parts of their etheric body. This is when we awake with feelings we don’t understand that may linger on throughout the day until we process them.

What Is A Dream Catcher?
Here is where dream catchers are needed to assist you in capturing negative visions or the remnants of those negative impressions. Dream catchers are valuable tools that can aid us as we astral travel. When we come back to our body we will pass though the dream catcher’s webs sliding down the center and leaving all the unwanted negative dreams twisted in the catcher and when the sun rises they evaporate in the light.
The Lakota Indians feel that these types of astral entities are looking for anyway to get back to the physical plane and will attach themselves to you while you’re a sleeper. If you’re consciously sleep traveling they have less of a chance to connect to you because you are aware that they are a negative spirit. The Great Spirit protects those that use the dream catcher, not only keeping the bad things away from you but also allowing the good imagines and spiritual messages to pass through and stay present as you awaken to your physical state. Our goal as humans is to consciously move ourselves in the higher spiritual planes. Our dreams are deep pools of knowledge and we use familiarity to drive us to explore our waking reality. So when you’re out traveling, be aware of what you see and hear. And don’t forget to invest in a dream catcher…it could not hurt!
